SOLD Rare Early Wax Doll from Queen Victorias Christmas Tree

This product is currently unavailable
Quantity:
2 wonderful early toys came up for auction last year. These toys were ornaments on Queen Victorias Christmas tree.
Queen Victoria was known to gift ornaments from her tree.
These 2 fabulous early toys were gifted to Elsie H Young by Queen Victoriain the late 19thC.
Elsie Young was the second cousin of Isabella Whichcote who was the daughter of Sir Thomas Whichcote 7th Baronet.
Isabella had a grace and favour apartment in Hampton Court and invited Elsie to a Christmas banquet.
It was during this banquet that the Queen gifted these toys to Elsie.
Elsie treasured them and when she died left them to her servant, she subsequently sold them to the previous vendor who auctioned them.
These 2 toys are particularly interesting as they both date from around 1840-50s and so were probably ornaments on the Queens tree for many years before they were gifted to Elsie in the 1890s.
So this is an early 19thC miniature wax doll unusually dressed as a boy.
He is charming and completely original, sadly missing one foot.
