Here we have a very beautiful lady, dating from around 1820. She is 15" tall, she has a beautifully painted face with serene expression and a hint of a smile. Her lovely sturdy fully jointed wooden body is in good working order, her paint work is in good original condition with no peeling, cracking or repaint. She has the normal signs of aging one would expect from a doll of this period. There is an old repair at the top of one leg also at the top of one arm, both repairs are stable. She comes wearing her original regency cotton dress which is lovely although shows its age. She comes with a woven basket of flowers and a fabulous wired lace bonnet, she also has a most fabulous brown silk bonnet decorated with wax flowers and an early silk fringed shawl for a more formal look. She came to me in this wonderful early box which has housed her for many years. The name she has been known by Amelia Mary Bennett is written in pencil on the front of the box.
