SOLD Very Rare 18thC Miniature Embroidered (Print Work Picture)

This product is currently unavailable
An incredibly rare example of late 18thC embroidery known as print work.
This technique became popular around 1790, when printing was becoming very fashionable this technique of stitching was to copy the popular printed pictures. All the tiny lines and dots etc are in fact stitched this is not printed.
The skill of the stemstress is astonishing, only on close inspection can one fully appreciate that this is not a print but entirely hand stitched.
This wonderful little picture incorporates the name of its maker Eliza Dale and is dated 1793.
Sadly there is wear to the material however the picture is unaffected.
A most beautiful item to display in an early dolls house.
Measures 4 inches by 3.5 inches including frame.
