These are a most charming and rare pair of dolls or child face screens, certainly too small to be for an adult. They are we are sure French and date from the early to mid 19thC.
They have beautifully turned wooden gilded handles.
They depict on one side beautiful images of a regency lady and a young child, the reverse side is gold painted and appears to be decorated with wonderfully early scraps.
These lovely items come in wat we are sure is their original painted toleware box with silk padded interior.
The screens measure 8" in length, the box is 10" in length.
We have photographed them in a large 25" wooden doll for perspective.
